He was the son of Isham Meadows, Sr (b 1740 VA, d. April 4, 1829 Harris Co GA) and Frances Goode Acree (b. 1764 NC, d. aft 1803NC). Isham Meadows, Sr. was the son of Daniel Meadows (bef 1691-1775 NC) and Jane Woodief (b. 1692 VA d. aft 1741).

Ben married Nancy Parker December 17,1805 in Greene County, Georgia. Nancy Parker was b. ca 1788 Chatham County NC - d. Mary 6. 1852 Chambers/later Lee County AL. She was the daughter of Daniel Parker, Sr and Lucy Ann White (see below). History of Green Co GA; gives the marriage dates. Ben and Nancy came to Chambers Co., Alabama about 1830. Ben bought land from the Creek Indians in Chambers County. His land was located in Township 20 Range 28E Section 33. he bought 319.80 acres from For-No-Con-Hau (Indian) and 319.80 acres from For-Ko-Chus-Yo-Ho-Lo (Indian). He was the owner of the first grist mill in Chambers County.
The mill was built on Halawakee Creek by Marshall J. Thompson, a millwright who came from Green Co., Georgia to Chambers Co., Alabama in 1836.
He purchased 640 acres S33 T20 R28E in 1846. He deeded land for Hepzibah Church Cemetery
Donated land for Halawakee Academy in 1836.
Application for mill house and dam were granted in 1838
"Meadows Mill Bridge" was located above the mill.
Benjamin was very active in church and early school work

According to Lee County and her Forebears by Alexander Nunn Isham (Son of Benjamin Franklin and Nancy Parker Meadows) was a farmer and grist mill owner in Chambers Co. Early settlers had immediate need for their corn to be ground converting it into grits or meal. The alternative was lye hominy, parched corn, or the mortar and pestle method of breaking up the corn to make cornbread.
Ben Meadows gave land for the Hepzibah Cemetery, Chambers County, (now Lee County). He and his wife Nancy, were members of Hepzibah Primitive Baptist Church and are buried there on the highest point. Ben also gave land on which Halawakee Academy for girls was built in 1836. The original log structure was torn down and a new school built in 1849. Marshall J. Thompson was a trustee of the school.

Benjamin Franklin Meadows married his second wife circa 1852, Sarah R Jeters in Chambers County, Alabama. She was born Sarah Mary Brown Philpot November 26, 1819 Lunenberg, Virginia and died April 7, 1888 in Franklin, Heard County, GA. Her parents were David Philpot and Sarah "Sally" Nance. She is buried in Caswell Cemetery, Heard County, GA. as are several of their children. She was first married to William Jeter ca 1838 VA, they had three children; Rev David Harrison "Henry", "Queenie" and William Lee Jeter.
