Floy Carlton Pachall, 89, of Bryan, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Graveside services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Willowhole Cemetery, North Zulch, Texas with the Rev. John Greening officiating. Carlton was born December 31, 1919 in North Zulch, Texas to Carl and Lena (Vernon) Pachall. He attended Cross and Willowhole Schools. On August 21, 1938, he married Glynnora Sheffield. They shared 67 years together. Carlton joined the Army November 29, 1944. While serving in Japan, he received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Ribbon, Victory Ribbon and two Overseas Service Bars. He was discharged on August 21, 1946. When he returned, he was employed at Halsell Motor Company for 40 years as a mechanic and Service Manager. In 1979 he received the Chrysler Corporation Service Managers Citation Circle Award. He was a member of the American Legion Post #159. Carlton will be remembered for his kind, giving spirit. He was always ready to help family and friends when they needed him. Carlton was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Glynnora; son, Tommy Pachall; daughter-in-law, Gaye (Griffin) Pachall and brothers and sisters-in law, Joe L. McLain; Cecil and Sybil Sheffield; Norman and Corena Sheffield; Marvin West; Lucille Sheffield; Bonnie and Dan Manthei; Melvin Sheffield. Survivors include his son, Wayne Pachall, of Houston; daughters and sons-in-law, Hilda and Bill Atkinson, of Bryan; Wanda and Eddie Stuart, of Bryan; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Dana and Charlie Coon, of Houston, Julie and Cody Fleming, of Houston, Kelli and Jeff Stafford, of College Station, Leslie and Monty Holcombe, of College Station, Katie and Mark Kouba, of Flynn, Jon and Antoinette Pachall, of Bryan, Chris and Jenny Stuart, of Bastrop and Kevin and Jessica Stuart, of Bryan; 16 great-grandchildren, Eric and Amanda Coon, Jared, Lauren and Brian Fleming, Charlie and Chandler Stafford, Hayden and Hudson Holcombe, Brianna, Gentry and Presley Perry, and Levi Kouba, Miles and Cash Pachall, and Sarah Stuart; sister, Ella Mae McLain; brother-in-law, V.C. Sheffield, of Bedias; sisters-in-law, Maurine West, of Bryan and Jean Sheffield, of Bremond.
