EVELYN SITZMANN
Evelyn Sitzmann, 83, of Le Mars, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
The former Evelyn Becker was born March 16, 1914, in Le Mars, the daughter of John and Ethel (Franklin) Becker. She grew up near Le Mars and graduated from Central High School in Le Mars. On Oct. 10, 1938, she married Venard Sitzmann at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. Following their marriage the couple farmed in Elkhorn Township near Kingsley for many years. Mr. Sitzmann died in 1979, and in 1981 Evelyn moved to Le Mars.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Ron Wiltgen of Le Mars; two sons, Wendell Sitzmann of Le Mars, and Lew Sitzmann and his wife, Jean, of Kingsley; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lee Becker.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Neptune, rural Hinton, with the Rev. Mark Stoll officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. today (Monday) at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Catholic Daughters rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
