John James Annis, 80, of Medford, died Friday, November 25, 2005.
Service will be held at the Conger-Morris Medford Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
He was born on November 11, 1925 in Aberdeen, S. Dakota to Harrison and Blanche Annis. On July 13, 1946 in Wheeling, W. Virginia he married Nancy Lee Glessner, who survives.
John served his country for 26 years in the U.S. Air Force followed by a career in the U.S. Postal Service achieving the position of Post Master in several communities.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid sports fan. In his younger years he excelled at volleyball and fast pitch softball earning him the title "goldenarm" for his fast pitches. Later, to keep in touch with sports he officiated basketball, football and baseball games.
In retirement years he enjoyed being "J.J." the clown; loving nothing better than to participate in a good parade.
In addition to his wife, survivors include six children, Dave (Medford), Mark (Central Point), Claudine Wales (Eagle Point), Larene Zoerner (Salem), Janel Rompel (Bend) & Charmayn Allen (Wasco); 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by Judy (daughter), Alvin (brother) and Ilene (sister).
