The body of J. W. Grimes, an old soldier, who died suddenly in Omaha Tuesday morning, arrived in this city today and the funeral was held this afternoon from the Soldiers Home chapel, interment taking place in the Home cemetery. In speaking of this death, the Omaha Bee, this morning says:
"J. W. Grimes, 2122 Burdette street, died at his home Tuesday morning immediately after returning home from the polls. Mr. Grimes was 67 years of age and a personal friend of Mayor Dahlman. He had lived in Omaha but one year having come here from Beatrice where he resided for more than twenty-five years. Mr. Grimes had been ailing for about two months and his death is supposed to have resulted from a suffecatineg ? spell, to which he had been subjected for some time. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and had served under General Custer. Surviving are his widow, two sons and a daughter. No funeral arrangements have been made."
