William Oscar Alvey, 90, of Upton, died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was a native of Wax, a retired farmer and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Medora Ward Alvey; his mother, Louella Powell Alvey; his father, Samul Alvey; a son, Oscar Alvey Jr.; four brothers, Hillard, Chester, Herbert and Oliver; and two sisters, Tishie Kerr and Bertha Caswell. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. The funeral is 2 p.m. today at Manakee Funeral Home in Upton with the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial will be in Upton Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
