Oscar Edward Fritz Sr., 89, of Big Stone Gap, formerly of Fayetteville, W.Va., died Sunday in Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, W.Va. after a short illness.
He was a retired miner with Cannelton Coal Co. and was a member of UMW. He was a 32-year resident of Fayetteville.
Surviving: wife, Julia Ferrell Fritz; sons, Tony of Fayetteville, Jewell of Belvidere, Ill., Paul of Boothwyn, Pa., Oscar Jr. of Fairfax, Stanley of Oak Hill, W.Va.; daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Pinnson of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Mrs. Zelma Robbins of Stafford; sisters, Mrs. Elsie Fleenor and Mrs. Lula Adams, both of Wise; 26 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Dodd-Payne Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Eli M. Miller officiating.
Burial will be in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
