He retired from the A.D.Goetz Company after 45 years of service as an engineer.
He is survived by a daughter Virginia Green, two sons, Edward D. Tolbert of Charles Town, WV. and John W. Tolbert of Leesburg, VA. Two sisters, Frances Hall and Rosette Dutch of Washington, DC.
He was a member and former Vestryman of St. Phillip's Episcopal Church in Charles Town, WV.
A member of the Star Lodge No. 1 F and A.M. 32nd Degre Mason.
Funeral services were held at St. Phillip's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Charles M. Johnson officiating. Masonic graveside rights were held at the cemetery.
Bearer were; Harry Rideoutt, Harry Rideoutt, Jr., Robert Brown, Gilbert Taylor, George Carter, and Charles Ross.
