MATHEWS, William S., 88, of Summitville, Tenn., died January 31, 1995 following a brief illness, at Coffee Medical Center Nursing Home. A native of Coffee County, he was the son of the late James B. and Ells Sain Mathews. He was a farmer and a member of Summitville Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Morehead Mathews, Summitville; one sister, Ione St. John, Manchester; one niece, Mary Jackson Hamrick, Niles, Mich.; and five nephews, Bob St. John, Manchester, Don St. John, Fort Worth, Texas, Frank and Stanley Jackson, both of Niles, Mich., and James Mathews, Alabama. Funeral services were held February 2, 1995 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Barry Phelps, Summitville Methodist Church officiating. Burial was at Summitville Cemetery, Summitville. Manchester Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
