He was married three times, first to Isabella (Lowery) with whom he had three sons, William, James and Samuel. Second marriage was to Hester (Mills), they had one daughter, Sarah Jane. His last marriage was to Mary (Wall), who brought him a son, Taylor and two daughters, Julia, and Ella. He died on June 20, 1887, in Fort Myers, Florida, having lived a long life of 80 years, and was buried there.
