Dorothy, 90, of Fennimore passed away at Boscobel Area Health Care in Boscobel. She was born to Edward and Ida (Penke) Stellmacher. She married John Christel on Sept. 14, 1942, in Madison. Dorothy was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish of La Crosse and of the Friends of the La Crosse Public Library of which she was a member of the board and former president and where she was very active in many book sales. She was part owner, accountant and officer at Interstate Dealer Supply From 1963-2000. Dorothy was an avid Wisconsin Badgers fan and loved working on crossword puzzles. She was a very generous person and was always donating to charities or anything for a good cause. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include five children, David Christel and Karen (Kuldip) Kalsy both of La Crosse, WI, Candy (Tom) Coleman of Fennimore, WI, Steven (Irina) Christel and Bob Christel both of La Crosse WI; five grandchildren, Jai (Sarah) Kalsy of Rochester, MN, Heather Carnevale of Twin Lakes, WI, Melissa (Tom) Steger of Fennimore, WI, Jennifer Christel of Hugo, MN, and Bridgit Newberry of Twin Lakes, WI; one stepgrandchild, Rusty Yerokin of La Crosse, WI; two great grandchildren: Sofia Carnevale of Twin Lakes, WI and Aubrey Kalsy of Rochester, MN, brother, Edward Stellmacher of New Braunfels, TX and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Christel in 1995; brother, Orville Stellmacher; sister, Mabel Horning; four infant brothers; and one infant sister. Funeral services were held at Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore. Father George Horath of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiated.
