Black Mountain - Betty Lou Penland Burnett, 75, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at Mission Hospitals, St. Joseph Campus, in Asheville.
Mrs. Burnett was born Nov. 2, 1932, in Haywood County, and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed by all her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emory and Nettie York Penland; husband, Bart A. Burnett; and daughter, Lynn Ruff, who passed away Nov. 20, 2007.
Betty Lou is survived by her daughters, Barbara Miller and Pam Carter, both of Black Mountain; sister, Juanita Kilby, of Black Mountain; brother, Emory Penland, of Asheville; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Mountain View Baptist Church.
