Leila (pronounced Leela according to Aunt Anne) was the daughter of John Daniel Stripling and his 1st wife Ann Virginia West Stripling. The locataion of their home in Shelby county at the time of Leila's birth has never been found. It might have been Aldrich or at Underwood or even Old Maylene, or might have been Dogwood as her brother John Robert stated his birth place to be on his WWI draft reg. Leila never married and maintained a home for all the family who needed it until her death. She became a Matriarch of the family with her step-mother Zillah and is well remembered by all who knew her.
