Mrs. Martha Drane Suhrer, 43, of 519 Coker Spring Road, S.E.. Aiken. wife of Dr. James H. Suhrer. died Saturday at her residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, with the Rt. Rev.Msgr. George Lewis Smith officiating. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tonight at George Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Born in Augusta, Mrs. Suhrer was a daughter of Mrs. Jean Smith Drane and the late Hamilton S. Drane. She was a graduate of Emory University School of Nursing. Mrs. Suhrer was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and the church choir.
Active in Aiken organizations, she was a member of the Aiken Pine Needle Garden Club, Aiken Assembly, and was a former president of the Aiken County Hospital Auxiliary.
Among those surviving are her widower; five daughters, Miss Janice Suhrer, Miss Denise Suhrer, Miss Beth Suhrer, Miss Allison Suhrer, Miss Leslie Suhrer; three sons, Jim H. Suhrer Jr.. George Suhrer, Stephen Suhrer, all of Aiken; her mother. Mrs. H.S. Drane of Augusta; and a half brother, J.E. Drane of Augusta.
