Son of William McLelland and Susan P. Hoffman, who married 13 February 1874 in Fulton county Illinois.

Married Ida Vancil 9 June 1897 in Cass county Illinois.

Worked as a claim agent for an "international railway" in Buffalo New York.

Later remarried to an Ada Merle maiden name unknown.

Son Charles Gatewood Mc Lelland Jr. was born 27 July 1900 in Quincy Illinois, so his mother was Ida Vancil McClelland.

Charles G. McClelland, 86, died yesterday at the Veterans' hospital in Tuscaloosa Alabama. A native of Astoria, Illinois, he came to Zephyrillis in 1948 from Buffalo, New York, after retiring as the commissioner of the Buffalo Industrial Bureau.

He was a veteran of the Spanish American War, and a member of Pasco 35 United Spanish War Veterans. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Zephyrillis Lodge 198 A. F. & A. M., and the Buffalo Consistory. He was a past president of the Zephyrillis Taxpayers' League.

Survivors include: his widow, Mrs. Merle McClelland, Zephyrillis; a son, Charles McClelland, Dallas, Texas; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
