My Great-Grandaunt. Kate was the daughter of Giles Connell and Catherine "Kitty" Tinnin, pioneer settlers of Sumner and Robertson Counties, Tennessee. On Dec 9, 1882 Kate married her sister Mary's widower, W.H. England. Mary had died two years earlier at just 38. In 1884 Kate and Harry had one son, Connell Kirby, who died just a few months later. Kate lovingly raised her sister's four small children and was a surrogate grandmother to my dad. After the children were grown, she owned a hat shop in downtown Springfield.
