San Bernardino County First District Supervisor 1893-1897 Chairman 1895- 1897

Son of Robert and Susan Turner who came to San bernardino County and in 1883, traded a block of land fo 40-acres in Adelanto Springs Ranch in the Victor Valley area. The Turner Ranch now comprising 350 acres, is one of the oldest and largest ranches in the Victor Valley area. Here Frank and Susan raised their 5 children, John, Frank, Niles, Genny and Ethel.

John C.Turner became associated with his father in the ioperations of a general store on D Street. In 1899, John built a new general store next door, one of the first reinforced concrete buildings in the state. He operated the store for 28 years, retiring in 1927.
It was during his term of office that the courthouse at Court and E streest was constructed. Following his term of office he was appointed Postmaster of Victorville in 1901 and held the position for several years, he was also that year elected Justice-of-the-peace and held the office till 1903.
John C. and Margaret "Maggie" Tracy were married on September 16,1893 in Los Angeles. She was a school teacher in Victor Valley. They had 4 children. Helen, born in 1894, Robert(1896-)Frederick Joseph(1899-) and Marguerite(1902-)Mrs. Turner worked in her husbands store after the children were raised. The town's first telephone was in the store and served the town's needs.
Mr. Turner became ill on a visit to his daughter's home in Gardena and died at a Los Angeles hospital age 74. He was survived by his wife Margaret and one son, Robert P.Turner both of Victorville, two daughters, Mrs.T.J.Hillman of Victorville and Mrs.Harry Gilmore of Gardena
