Amsterdam Evening Recorder, Monday, August 29, 1949 ~ Getman Expires at Lassellsville ~ LASSELLSVILLE, Aug. 29 ~ Abraham Getman, 75, lifelong Lassellsville area resident, died Saturday at his home on the Lassellsville-Scotch Bush road after three week's illness. Mr. Getman was born in Scotch Bush, March 2, 1874, the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Wells Getman. He was a farmer. His wife, the former Nancy Gardner, died nine years ago. He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Delia) Johnson, Mrs. Harlow (Nina) Christman, Mrs. LeRoy (Laura) Kretser and Mrs. Barnard (Ruth) Tansley, Lassellsville, and Mrs. Edwin (Marian) Cole, St. Johnsville; two sons, Lester and John Getman, Lassellsville; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Wilder, Rockwood, and Mrs. Delia Plant, Cleveland, Ohio; 17 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Smith Funeral Home in St. Johnsville with the Rev. C. Frederick Miller, Rome, former Methodist pastor in St. Johnsville and Lassellsville, officiating. Burial will be in Fical Cemetery, Lassellsville.
