For the first 8 years of his life he lived in Lawrence Township, where he attended Smith School. He then moved with his parents and brothers, Lloyd Eugene and Gerald Raymond, to Liberty Township. He attended Lower Fifteen and Fifteen Schools for the remainder of his education (8th Grade), where he was a "C" average student.
He married Helen Mae Spindler, daughter of August Franklin and Katherine "Katie" (Miller) Spindler on May 7, 1939 at the Garrett County Courthouse in Oakland, Garrett County, Maryland.
Together Arthur and Helen had two sons, Ronald William (b. 1944) and Gary Eugene (b. 1940).
After their marriage they lived in the Liberty Township area, where their sons attended the Marietta City School District. They moved to a two story yellow house just outside of Lowell, Ohio in 1956. Their sons would graduate from Fort Frye High School in nearby Beverly, Ohio.
He began working part time for the Washington County Highway Department in 1939. He started working for them full time in 1941 and would serve as Assistant Road Superintendent. He retired from the Highway Department in 1981. After his retirement he worked doing Odd Job's, including painting houses.
He is forever remembered as being a wonderful and caring father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.
He passed away on December 26, 1990 in Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. He is buried at Greenlawn Cemetery in Lowell, Ohio. At the time of his death he was survived by two sons, four grandchildren and two brothers. He was preceeded in death by his parents and wife.
