W/O John KuntzKUNZ, Laura Belle, 88, Wilbur, WA, passed away on June 22, 2009 in her home in Wilbur. She was born July 25, 1920 to Guy and Anna (Holznagel) Childers of Almira, WA who farmed north of Almira. Laura Belle graduated in 1938 from Almira High School, then attended Washington State College and graduated in 1942. She and John Kunz of Wilbur were married March 2, 1943. Following John's discharge from the Navy, they settled on the family farm north of Wilbur at Sherman. Laura Belle was a homemaker and long-time 4-H leader. Her hobbies included gardening, photography, stamp collecting, sewing and quilting. She worked for the Wilbur School District as business manager for many years. In retirement she and John enjoyed square dancing, camping, and traveling. One of their more memorable trips was to England in 1985 to research family ancestors as a part of her passionate pursuit of genealogy. She also made numerous trips to Salt Lake City, Utah with her sister and other members of the Kittitas County Genealogical Society to do research. She was a superintendant in the needlework department of Lincoln County Fair and a Judge of needlecrafts at Pomona Grange Contests. A college graduate of WSC (Cougar alum.), Laura Belle was extremely proud that her daughter and son, granddaughters and grandson all completed college degrees. One of her biggest joys was becoming a great-grandma in January 2008. Laura Belle enjoyed her associations with the Rebekah Lodge, the Wilbur Senior Center, Community Presbyterian Church, Sherman Cemetery Club, Washington State Grange, Erani Sorority, Washington Flying Farmers, and observer for the US Air force (sky watch) in the 1950's. She was preceded in death by her husband John and her parents. She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Bob) Perrine of Puyallup, WA, a son Joe (Sue Kunz of Wilbur, sister Virginia Hanks of Ellensburg, WA, grandson Kenneth Perrine of Austin, TX, granddaughters Mikki Kunz of Seattle, WA and Jalayna (Rob) Watkins of Garfield, WA, great-granddaughter Addison Belle Watkins and number nieces and nephews.
