Zane passed away February 5, 2008 in Cortez at the age of 84. He was born July 10, 1923 to John and Mary Frazier in Enid, Okla. He spent his early childhood years in west Texas and moved to Cortez with his family in 1932. He attended school in the Cortez area and helped on the family farm. As a young man, he also had a thriving muskrat trapping business for several years. He met and fell in love with his future wife, Dorothy Crites in Cortez and they were married in 1943. Five children were born to that union. As a young man, Zane tried his hand at being a lumberjack and developed an unusual expertise at the vocation. He worked in the local timber industry for several years, then moved to northern California to tackle the giant redwoods. By the time he left California, he became known as the best timber cutter in the region. But the family farm in Cortez kept beckoning him, and he returned in 1970 to begin farming and logging in the Cortez area. He actively farmed and ranched until his death. Zane was a charter member of the Cortez Church of the Nazarene and also helped start and build a church in Redway, Calif. He was a long-time member of the Gideons International and had a strong passion for distributing the Bible wherever he went. There are many stories how his faith in God has touched many other lives.

Preceding Zane in death were his wife, Dorothy by 38 days; his parents, and infant twin sister, Sissy; two brothers, OC and Bobby; and a daughter, Carolyn Tryon. Surviving are his children, Evelyn Tidwell and husband, Darrell of Pine Haven, Wyo., Ron Tryon of Cortez, Sam Frazier and wife, Marlene of Cortez, Marilyn Harrington and Harvey Baker of Cortez; and David Frazier and wife, Tammy of Brighton, Colo.; brother, John Frazier of Conroe, Texas; sister, Bonnie Greg of Durango; grandchildren, Russell Tidwell of Loveland, Colo., Amy Tidwell of Eugene, Ore., Monica Gorsuch of Cortez, Marsha Rule of Cortez, Misty Harrington of Cortez, Jessica Wayt of Carbondale, Colo., Sara Wynes of Aurora, Colo., Kara Frazier of Parker, Colo., Bridget Frazier of Marble Falls, Texas, and Jay and Colton Frazier of Brighton, Colo.; and seven great grandchildren.
