Robert Eugene "Gene" Schmoldt, 92, of Blanchard, died Sunday, July 25, 2021, in Blanchard. The son of John Herman Schmoldt and Irene Effie (Hibinger) Schmoldt, he was born March 5, 1929, in Oklahoma City.
Gene graduated from Moore High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. After being discharged from the military, Gene attended Oklahoma City University, where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts. He married Lorene Pansy (Danner) Leverich on September 5, 1964, in Oklahoma City, and she preceded him in death on November 21, 1992. Gene worked as a land surveyor, then as a foreman for Zestee Foods, and later as a serviceman for Oklahoma Electric Cooperative for more than 20 years before retiring. He was a member of the Blanchard Church of Christ. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming. Gene loved working with his hands and enjoyed building and fixing almost anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pansy Schmoldt; a grandson, Troy James; one sister, Irene Fishbeck; and three brothers, Donald, Edgar, and Howie Schmoldt.
Gene is survived by four daughters, Regena Wright and husband, Keith, of Mustang, Robyn James and husband, Tony, of Blanchard, Rena Payne and husband, Richard, of Blanchard, and Sandra McConnell and husband, Gene, of Yukon; one son, Tom Leverich and wife, Betty, of Norman; grandchildren, Alyssa James of Durant, Tori James of Blanchard, Patrick McKay, Shawna McKay, Ryan McKay and wife, Lori, Trae McConnell and wife, Amy, Megan McConnell, Wendy Stone and husband, Brett, Bryan McConnell and wife, Ashley, and Nicole Wayne and husband, Kenneth; nine great grandchildren; and many other loved ones and friends.
