Son of Joseph & Elizabeth Matilda (Johnson) Kemmerer, he was married to Sarah Jane Miller on October 29, 1868 at Sangamon Co., Illinois. When Martin was 3 years of age his family moved to Ohio and when he was 17 years of age his family moved to Christian Co., Illinois.
Their first 4 children were born in Buckhart Twp., Illinois, their 5th child, Alvin Franklin was born in Dorchester, Nebraska. Their next three children were born in Labette Co., Kansas and their last, Pearl Alice was born in Nowata Co., Oklahoma. Between 1914 and 1928 Martin and Em were living in Benton Co., Arkansas, they came back to Nowata Co., in 1928.
Martin was a farmer his whole life.
