Clyde R. Aldridge [Keyser]

KEYSER, W.Va. — Clyde Richard "Dick" Aldridge, 81, of Keyser, formerly of Fort Ashby, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 18, 2007.

Born Oct. 30, 1925, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Ida Pearl (Logue) Mock and Robert Ronnie Aldridge. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years, Lois Eileen (Morris) Aldridge; three sisters, Mary Edna Hogamier, Willow Brown and Evelyn Shroyer; three brothers, James Aldridge, Charles Aldridge and Raymond Aldridge; and one son-in-law, Richard Suthard.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Aldridge formerly attended the Church of Christ, Cumberland.

He was retired from Smith's Transfer after 35 years of service as a truck driver.

He was an active member of the Teamsters and Chauffeurs' Local 453, lifetime member of Fort Ashby Post 6667, V.F.W., American Legion Post 27, Frostburg, and honorary member of Keyser Volunteer Fire Department.

He was the last immediate survivor of his family.

Surviving are his six children, Sharon Suthard and fiancé Tim Dawson, Keyser, Richard Aldridge and wife Eunice, Keyser, Michael Aldridge and wife Sonya, Fort Ashby, Nancy Lease and husband Allen, Front Royal, Va., Mark Aldridge and wife April, Keyser, and Brian Aldridge and fiancée Lori Steadman, Cresaptown; 16 grandchildren, Amy White and husband Shane, Richard Suthard, Samantha Judy and husband Dave, Chris and Kayla Aldridge, Matt Lippold and wife Brenda, Jeanne Ratcliff and husband David, Eddie Lease, Candi Lease and fiancé Chris Holbrook, Mark, Matt, Joey and Amanda Aldridge, and Clay, Gabby and Trenton Steadman; seven great-grandchildren, Breanne and Colten White, Parker Lease, Taylor Jones, Matthew Ratcliff, Reese Aldridge and Tyler Holbrook, and another great-grandchild on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Robert Shroyer, Fair Hope, Pa.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at noon with Pastor Larry Shrout officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Richard Suthard, Eddie Lease, Matt Lippold, Chris Aldridge, Mark Aldridge and Clay Steadman. Matt Aldridge will be an honorary pallbearer.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Fort Ashby Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1110, Fort Ashby, WV 26719 or the Keyser Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 603, Keyser, WV 26726.

Mr. Aldridge was a loving father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his entire family. Special thanks to his oldest grandchild, Amy White, for her special loving care while he was at Moran Manor.
