Funeral Rites for Elmer Pike Held at Home
Nichols--Funeral Services for Francis Elmer Pike, 76, whose death occurred at his home at Nichols on Aug. 28 were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Kirchner funeral home at Nichols with the Rev. Horace Ireland, Methodist minister, in charge. Pallbearers were Louis Umscheid, Wilmer Hallack, Harvey Barnhart, Carl Stolley, Jim Hadley and Roy Wilkerson. Flower attendants were Bernice Hadley, Margaret Gable, Clara Barnhart and Mrs. Roy Wilkerson. Burial was in the Nichols cemetery.
Mr. Pike was born Jan. 24, 1869 at Ladora, Ia., and married Mary LaRue on Feb. 4, 1889 at the home of the bride's parents, near Atalissa. Three children were born to this union, Harry Pike of West Liberty, Jessie Krider of Rock Island and Golda Holdeman of Letts. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, one brother, Everett Pike of Nichols and three half-sisters, Cora Slesser and Myrtle Hacket of Michigan and Verna Curtis of Chicago.
