James was the son of Michael and Elizabeth Duesler Holland. He was youngest half brother to John Heath, Julia Heath Voight, Betsey Heath Van Allen, Catherine Heath Miller and full brother to Mary Holland Shoup, and Nancy Holland who may have died before marriage age. He lived to aproximately 49. He died intestate and there is an interesting court transcript regarding the administration of probate. He married Mary J Heath daughter of his older half-brother John and Catherine Hays Heath. See; John Heath 1907 Prospect Hill cemetery, Gloversville, NY.
