Albert Cook Sligh, a son of George Augustus Sligh and the former Miss Elizabeth Alberta Cannon, was born in the bounds of Beth Eden in Newberry County, South Carolina.

Albert was married to Miss Mary Amelia Boozer in 1870; with whom he had the following children:
Eunice {m. Glasgow}(1875-1958)
Frank Cannon (1876-1953)
Clarence C. (1878-1935)
Rufus Carlisle (1881-1883)
Elizabeth A. "Bessie" (1883-1967)
Albert Amelia (1885-1964)

After Mary died a few months after their son, Albert in 1885; now a widower with five children, Albert married Miss Addie Caroline Lee. This union would have the following children:
Claude Olin (1889-1981)
Martha Lee "Mattie" (1891-1985)
Hubert Samuel (1893-1967)
Anna B (1895-)
Charles Norman (1897-1968)
Chevis (1899-1967)
Lilly Fair (1901-1984)
Sarah Elizabeth (1904-1995)
