Collin H. Bailey, 73, passed from this life on July 13, 2009 at his residence.
He was born in DeRidder, La. where he resided and worked a total of 29 years for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry until his retirement. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 10:00 at Hopewell Baptist Church with internment in the Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder, La. The Minister officiating will be Bro. Dalton Isbell. Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, 2009 beginning at 10:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home and Friday, July 17, 2009, 9:00 am until service time at the church. Survivors include 4 children, Stevenson Eugene Bailey and wife Kelly of DeRidder, Tammy C Powers and husband David of Leesville, Collin Edward Bailey and wife Tina of DeRidder and Wendi Patrice Bailey of Pitkin; step-daughter, Debrah Dartez and grandchildren of Ragley; 11 Grandchildren, Casey Bailey, Daniel Bailey, Anna Dufrene, Aron Dufrene, Tyler Bailey, Lanie Bailey, Sidnie Bailey and Megan Bailey and numerous great grandchildren; 5 sisters, Lillie Fowler and Bettie Martin of DeRidder, Mary Watson and Catherin Atkinson of Dry Creek and Linda Hogan of Elmer, La. He was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 3 Brothers. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.mem.com.

The family requested the following to be added:
Dad was always a family man. First, last and always. He always took care of his family. Rarely did he have a dollar in his pocket because he would give it to his family. But that didn't bother him.
He was the kind of man to find no enemies and was liked by most people. He was a God fearing, hard working man. Never claimed to be perfect. His prayers and love for life and his family was expressed through music. He had a great love of bluegrass and gospel music, but even that was second to the love of his family.
