Company B was recruited in Paris, Edgar County, Illinois on July 28, 1861, and proceeded to St. Louis, Missouri on July 30th. Eighty-four men were mustered into service at the St. Louis Arsenal on August 5, 1861.
His name is missing from the book "An Illustrated History of the Missouri Engineer and the 25th Infantry Regiments" edited and complied by Dr. W. A. Neal and published in 1889 despite the fact that he died while serving his country.
