John Edward Roueche was born in Kaysville, Utah, the son of Thomas Francis and Margaret Comish Roueche. He attended school in Kaysville, helped on the family farm and sold and delivered coal. In 1881, having very little money, he walked from Kaysville to Provo where he attended Brigham Young Academy. His teacher, Karl Maeser, encouraged him to continue his education; and he graduated with a major in bookkeeping. He served an LDS mission to the Southern States from October 1883 to February 22, 1886, going without purse or scrip.

On April 1, 1886, he married Annie Marie Christensen in the Logan Temple. She was born September 3, 1861 in Hyde Park, Utah, the daughter of Nels and Anne Rasmussen Christensen.

The Roueche's settled in Layton, Utah; and John worked for Barton and Company Mercantile Store. He sold his interest there in 1888 and moved to Richmond, Utah, and then to Logan where he set up his own general merchandise store. In May 1896, he was called to be Bishop of the Millville Ward, a position he held for thirteen years. He moved his family to Millville where he built and managed another store. His wife, Anna, died June 11, 1906, leaving him with four children.

On December 13, 1906, he married Delila Graham, the daughter of Robert James and Mary Elizabeth Hulse Graham. She was born August 20, 1886, in Millville; and she attended school there. She then graduated from Brigham Young College and taught school in Millville for one year. She was a talented musician, serving as Organist and Chorister in the ward.

After her husband's death, she worked as a house mother and cook at the Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at Utah State Agricultural College. In 1942, she moved to Ogden and was employed at the Utah General Depot. She died on May 10, 1976.
