WILLIAM F. CHRISTEN

Willam F. Christen, 60, 209 S. Fifth St., a well-known Decatur resident, and a federal grain inspector for 25 years, died at 7:55 p.m. Monday at his home, following an extended illness. He was a member of the St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Decatur Lodget 571 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine, Adams County Shrine Club, American Legion, and Calliopers.He also served as chairman of the building committee for the St. Mark's United Methodist Church.Born on June 5, 1923, in Decatur, he was the son Bruce and Alice O. Jackson-Christen, and was married June 26, 1943, to Ruth E. Hammond; she survives.Also surviving are two children, Steven W., Decatur; Mrs. Jeffrey (Sallie C.) Parshall, Columbia, Mo.; one brother, Robert J., Decatur; five sisters, Mrs. Helen Field, Portland; Mrs. Myron (Dorothy) Ralston, Van Wert, O.; Mrs. Marvin (Laura) Jones, Van Wert; Mrs. Leo (Martha) Faurote, route 7, Decatur; Mrs. Kenneth (Jeanette) Bauserman, Monroeville; and three grandchildren.Two brothers, Daniel and James, and one sister, Harriet, preceded him in death.Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mark's United Methodist Church, with Rev. James S. Hook officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery.Friends may call at the Winteregg-Linn & Haggard Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Military graveside rites will be performed by the American Legion. Memorials are to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital
