HILLSBORO, Wis. - Shirley M. Amberg, 74, of rural Hillsboro passed away Friday, March 1, 2002, at her home following a 15-year battle with Parkinson's Disease.
She was born Oct. 6, 1927, to James and Tillie (Herdliska) Slama in Trippville, Wis. She grew to adulthood in the Hillsboro area and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1945. She later graduated from Vernon County Normal School and taught at the rural schools, Green Creek and Knowlton. Shirley was united in marriage to Edwin Amberg on Feb. 11, 1950, in Hillsboro. They dairy farmed in the town of Hillsboro for many years. She also was a member of the Hillsdale Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her husband, Edwin, and two sons, Joey and Tony; a brother, Fritz (Ramona) Slama; and a sister, June Slama, all of Hillsboro.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with Rev. Donald Ehler officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
The family would appreciate memorials to the Waisman Center, a Parkinson's Research Center in Madison, in addition to other local recipients of the family's direction.
