Yvonne as she liked to be called, was married Dec. 17 of 1952 to Robert R. Carter. Together they co-owned and operated Shasta Transfer and Storage company in Redding California, for over 40 years. Mrs Carter also ran her own knit shop for many years. She was involved with the Maid Of Shasta County Beauty pagent. In 1985 they retired and did a bit of traveling. She was married to Eugene Oscar Gilliam on June 21 1942. In 1949 she lost her first husband Eugene Gilliam the father of her two children Patricia Jean and Wayne Eugene, to complication of rhuematic heart. She is preceded in death by her parents, several siblings and two husbands and one grandson Ryan Gilliam. Mrs Carter had many talents, one which was knitting.I know in the 39 years I knew her, she left quite and impact on me. I learned so much from her on sewing and crocheting, one thing she could never teach me was to knit. I guess I just did not have that talent. She taught herself to knit with pencils and string when she was a child. She was a true lady and demanded respect as she deserved and expected nothing less than the best of people she delt with. She was a sharp woman with a great knowledge in business. She is another lady (like my mother) whom I greatly respected and admired. She was a wonderful cook and loved to sew. She liked anything to do with handy work. Gardening was another love of hers. She dearly loved her pets, they had 2 Doxies and a Scottish terrior Miss Daisey who passed in February. Mrs Carter was living in an assisted Adult center at the time of her death. She passed quietly and peacefully in her sleep. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
