Edwin was the husband of Harriet (Swan or Irvan) Burlingame and father of Ida, Louis, Homer, George, Frank and Clara. In 1860 they were living in Geneva, Ohio, where he worked for the railroad. He enlisted on August 11, and enlisted as a Private in Company K, 105th Ohio Infantry, on August 21, 1862, and received a disability discharge on January 14, 1863, at Louisville, Kentucky. In 1870 he and his family were living in Jamestown, Pennsylvania, but moved to Austinburg, Ohio, by 1880, where he worked as a farm laborer.
