Grandma was born and lived in Staunton, VA. Grandma's mother died when she was 1 year old from the Typhoid Epidemic of 1918. Her father remarried and so her father thought it best if she was raised by her maternal grandmother Sadie Froom who was a nurse. She eventually was living with Daniel and Lillie Braden for many years until her marriage. (They had an adopted daughter but no children of their own.) There she met her future husband who was a lay preacher at the bible school she attended. She enjoyed his sermons tremendously as evidenced by her diaries. Grandma was a very devout Christian woman all her life, starting from her youth. She was saved at a young age and gave her life to Christ. She was a housewife and sold Avon later in her years. She loved to save everything and had many papers when she died that I used to begin my family research. She was very devoted to God and attended church regularly. Her mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother were nurses (and even her descendants are). She raised her grandson James D. Beckette Jr. Grandma was the great matriarch and moral support of our family. She was a saint on this earth. She was a wonderful woman and dearly loved all her grandchildren and family. She is sorely missed. Her Welsh Royal ancestry has been documented back to Emperor Charlemagne and is registered with the Crown of Charlemagne through member #2087.

She had 7 children all born on different days like the nursery rhyme - Monday's child is fair of face...
