William was probably the son of Christopher DePriest, who died when he was 36 in North Carolina (1791).
Soon afterwards William struck out for Tennessee, where he raised and traded horses.

About 1802 he was in Smith County, Tn where he met and married a young widow, Rebecca Casey Noble.
A few years later they moved to Indiana (prob around 1814). Rebecca's daughter, Lucinda, married Elijah Jolliff there in 1818.

The next year (1819) they all moved to Jefferson County, IL, following Rebecca's brothers. Most of the Jolliff family eventually joined them there, too.

In 1823 William was appointed supervisor of the road from Mt. Vernon to the middle fork of Muddy, with 21 hands, including his son, Isaac and his brother-in-law, Zadok Casey.

William & Becky were both buried in the Old Shiloh Cemetery about 5 miles NW of Mt. Vernon.

Almost all of William & Rebecca's descendants moved to Missouri in the mid-1800's.

Children:
1. Green, 1803-aft 1860, d Shannon Co, MO.
2. Isaac Casey, 1807-1878, d Shannon Co, MO.
3. Charity, abt 1810 -
