Lou Creekmore, 79 a resident of San Marcos, TX for over 52 years, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2003, after an extended illness. She was born April 28, 1923 in Goose Creek, TX, the daughter of Nolan and Bessie (Harper) Cloud.
Lou is survived by her son, Nolan of Austin, sister Nola Pearman and husband Bill of Waxahachie, brother-in-law, Tom Mason of San Marcos, son-in-law Rex Kirby of Tyler.
"Mama Lou" is also survived by grandsons, Randy, John and Darren and their families including eight great-chandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Bill, Daughter Betty Lou Kirby and sister Betty Jo Mason preceded her in death.
After graduating from nursing school in 1944, Lou married her sweetheart, Bill. Lou was chosed by God to be a nurse. Her life personified her vocation with her unconditional love of people and her gifts of caring, and compassion that she freely gave to all she met. Lou was employed as a nurse in the San Marcos School District for 35 years.
In retirement, Lou was a "go-er" and a "do-er". She was busy with AARP, Meals on Wheels and church activities. Lou enjoyed her annual summer "girls trips" with her daughter, her sisters and her nieces. She also looked forward to visits with her grandsons and their families. She always attended the reunion activities of her high school graduation class of 1941. Lou also enjoyed flowers, plants and working in her greenhouse.
Lou's devotion to God made her very special to so many. As a member of the First Christian Church for over 50 years, she was involved in countless church activities. The family is indebted to her many friends for their care and concern through the years. Lou loved everyone and everyone loved her. She will be missed by all.
