Virginia was born on January 24, 1920, in Virginia, IL, the daughter of Brook Jacob and Annie Margaret Crane Newberry. She married Logan L. Starling on May 29, 1937, in Springfield.
Virginia graduated from Springfield High School and retired from the state of Illinois. She loved to travel, loved to be with people and loved her family. She was a member of Calvary Temple and was a Calvary Temple Golden Achiever.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, Logan L. Starling; her parents; and two sisters, Pauline Orme and Dorothy Jane Archer.
She is survived by her daughters, Virginia (husband, Charles) Whitlow of Nokomis; Kathryn Mohn of San Antonio, TX, Suzanne (husband, David) Howell of Morton, Sally Miller of San Antonio, TX, Patty (husband, Gary) Yaris of Springfield; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Funeral ceremonies will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, with Pastor Paul Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia, IL.
