Bertha Hile was born December 29, 1893 in Logan, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Joseph Cephus Mangus and Malinda Jane Chambers. She had 15 brothers and sisters, 3 half-brothers, and 1 half-sister. She married Ward Claude Hile September 19, 1916. Her husband and one son, Heber Glen, preceded her in death.

She is survived by three brothers, Thomas Clayton Mangus, Grady Cephus Mangus, and Anthony Alberta Mangus all of California; grandchildren, Dean Hile of Billings, Montana and Glennis Welton of Washington; great-granddaughters, Debbie Hovland of Billings, Montana and Deana Hauf of Casper, Wyoming; great-grandson, Nicholas Kruz of Washington; and 2 great-great granddaughters.

She died at North Big Horn Nursing Home in Lovell, Wyoming on October 18, 1986.
