Obituary:
Mr. Kenneth Jackson Chancey, 84 of Patterson, passed away late Sunday evening (July 12, 2009) at the Satilla Regional Medical Center.

A native and life long resident of Pierce County, he had worked as a surveyor for the State of Georgia for many years, had farmed and raised black angus cattle. Mr. Chancey was a 1943 graduate of Patterson High School, loved to hunt and fish and was a member of the Big Creek Hunting Club. He had been a B-17 Gunner in the US Air Force with the 8th Air Force out of Savannah during World War II and was a son of the late Andrew Jackson & Amy Cox Chancey. Mr. Chancey was also preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Chancey Smith and both of his brothers, Mack Chancey & Jackie L. Chancey.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Myrtice Walker Chancey of Patterson; three daughters, Amy Chancey and Kathy Chancey both of Patterson and Linda Chancey of Brunswick; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Chancey of Offerman; a brother & sister-in-law, Fred & Frances Walker of Savannah; a grandchild, Elijah Chancey and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.

Memorials:
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.

Visitation:
Visitation for Mr. Chancey will be held Wednesday evening (July 15, 2009) from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Service:
Funeral services for Mr. Chancey will be held at 11:00 o'clock Thursday morning (July 16, 2009) at the Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

Members of the Patterson High School class of 1943 and members of the Big Creek Hunting Club are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers and should meet at the church by 10:30 Thursday morning.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Chancey Family Cemetery.
