Sadie Belle Thompson, a Portland resident since 1960, died Tuesday in a Portland hospital. She was 64. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Hope Baptist Church, with burial in Willamette National Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson was born in North Carolina. A licensed practical nurse, she was a retired surgical technician at Bess Kaiser Hospital. She lived in Northeast Portland. Mrs. Thompson was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and of the Missionary Society at local, state and national levels.

Surviving are one daughter, Patricia J. Howard of Portland; one son, Alfred T. James of Salem; seven brothers, Burrell Alford of McKeesport, Pa., Thomas E. Alford of Pasedena, Calif., Calif., Charles and Gene Alford of Capitol Heights, Md., Rufus Alford of Elizabeth, Pa., and Ronald and Joseph Alford of Chicago; four sisters, Sue Smith of Jamaica, N.Y., Bernice Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y., Evelyn Bolding of Washington, D.C., and Della Jackson of Randallstown, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
