Harry Edward Axford, 43, 130 Joanne Lane died Nov. 27 in his home following a long illness.

Mr. Axford was born March 16, 1929 at Oak Park, the son of Harry Louis and Florencce Hagedorn Axford. On Sept. 13, 1952 he was united in marriage with Betty Jean Mattingly at Evansville, Ind.

He was an employee of Swift & Co. as assistant manager of the pork department. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Rochelle and the Reed Masonic Lodge of Evansville, Ind.

Surviving are his widow, Betty Jean, one son, Harry Edward Jr. and one daughter, Beth Ann, both at home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Axford of Evansville, Ind. and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Anna Hagedorn, also of Evansville, Ind.

Friends called at the Unger Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. where memorial services were conducted by the Rev. John Place at 8:30 p.m. Masonic rites were also held Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the South Hampton Baptist Church Cemetery in care of Dr. John Mullan, University of Chicago; 950 E. 59th St., Chicago 60637.
