EGGLESTON Billy Gene, passed away Friday, June 14, 2002. He was the youngest of 12 children born to Lee and Erna (Hale) Eggleston in Marlow, OK on January 27, 1926. He grew up in Chickasha, OK after his family moved from Marlow. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Pickens (APA-190) as a coxswain, piloting an LCVP (Higgins Boat). He participated in amphibious landings at Iwo Jima and Okinawa, delivering troops and supplies to and from the combat areas. He was honorably discharged in February 1946 and returned to Chickasha where he met his future bride, Mary McCray. They were married on November 2, 1946 and eventually made Oklahoma City their permanent home in 1952. Bill worked briefly in the aircraft industry at Chance Vioght Aircraft in Dallas, TX and at Tinker Air Force Base in Okla. City. After graduating from South West Printing School, he spent the rest of his professional career in the printing industry. He retired from Mike Bryan Office Supply in 1998 as head of the printing department. Bill enjoyed working with his hands becoming an accomplished wood worker and leather crafter. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and boating. Shortly before his death, Bill and Mary moved to Blanchard, OK from their long-time home in southwest Okla. City. He is preceded in death by his parents, all seven of his sisters and two of his brothers. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; children, Don and Misa (Cha) Eggleston of Suisun, CA, Larry and Cathy (Urban) Eggleston of Moore, OK, Regina and Bill Mahieu of Helena, OK, LaDonna and Gene Dugger of Blanchard, OK, seven grandchildren, and two brothers. Services will beheld Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at the South Colonial Chapel at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, OK.
