Funeral for Bryan Winters, 41, of Jacksonville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Lansford officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Mr. Winters died in an Athens hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born in Oklahoma, had lived in Jacksonville 20 years and owned and operated the Sonic Drive In in Jacksonville.

He was active in Jacksonville Parks and Recreations Department in summer sports and coached boys basketball and girls softball leagues. In 1989, he coached the Bealls Department Store Hi-Junior summer baseball team which was state runner-up champion in its division.

Mr. Winters was past president of the Jacksonville Baseball Association and was a director of the Jacksonville Quarterback Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Janice Winters of Jacksonville; a son, Scott Winters of Jacksonville; a daughter, Nikki Winters of Jacksonville; his mother, Mrs. Naomi Stanford of Blair, Okla.; three brothers, Dan Winters of Blanchard, Okla.. Jack Winters of Norman, Okla., and Lillard Winters of Hope, Ark., and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Henry Mata, John Brasher, Joe Blackmon, Keith McKinney, Royce Whitaker, Kenneth Gardner, Tim Billings and Steve Douglas.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Jacksonville High School Varsity Baseball Team and coaches.

A Bryan Winters Memorial Fund has been established at First National Bank in Jacksonville with the funds to be used for a memorial to Winters in the baseball program at the high school.
