Ann Akins, 63, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, Ga., died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs. Akins was born Monday, April 29, 1946 in Union County, Ga., to the late Norman McCollum and Bonnie McCollum. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union County. Ann had also been active in the Order of the Eastern Star and served on the Union County Board of Registrars. She had worked as a paraprofessional in the counselor's office of Union County High School. Ann was preceded in death by a daughter, Angie Akins Turner; her father, Norman McCollum; and a sister, Evelyn Weaver.
