J. F. Hightower, 60, well known Richland parish planter, died early Saturday near Mangham. The funeral was held on Sunday, July 2nd. The cortege left the Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro at 6:30 a.m., and proceeded to the Welden church near Bernice, where the services were held at 10 a.m. Rev. B. C. Smith officiated. Pallbearers were Bill Hightower, F. T. Hightower, Irvin Hightower, Gene Carley, W. C. Faust and Fred Arant.

He is survived by three sons, James Hightower, Winnsboro; Reul Hightower, Monroe; and Calvin Hightower, Summerfield; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Stansberry, Farmerville, and Miss Lucille Hightower, Mangham; three brothers, E. C. Hightower and F. T. Hightower, Summerfield, and C. S. Hightower, Bernice. Also he leaves a sister, Mrs. Mamie Carley, Many.
