J. W. Howell's Wife is Dead at Stroud.
Following Emergency Operation in Roanoke Saturday – Interment at Mt. Pisgah.

News of the death of Mrs. Bettie Lee Howell, wife of Commissioner J. W. Howell, reached this city early Tuesday morning following her death in a Roanoke hospital earlier the same day. Death came following an emergency operation at the Bonner hospital on Saturday night.
Mrs. Howell was the oldest child of the prominent Lee family at Welsh, being actively identified with the interests of her community. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, but following her marriage to Mr. Howell she united with him at Mount Pisgah.
Funeral service was held today at 3:00 from the Mount Pisgah Church and interment was in the Howell lot in the adjoining cemetery. A minister and friend of the family from near Roanoke was in charge of the funeral service.
Surviving are a husband, J. W. Howell; nine (sic) children, Corrine, Mozell, Sallie, Myrtle, Addie Mae, Ruby, Gene, Lee and Mack Howell; mother, Mrs. Frances Lee, Welsh; three sisters, Mrs. W. E. Snuggs, Ozark; Miss Lena Lee, Welsh; Miss Addie Lee, Nashville; six brothers, W. F. Lee, M. C. Lee, J. T. Lee, Jr., R. E. Lee, R. J. Lee and H. D. Lee.
