Oscar T. Detamore Sr., 93, of Floresville, Texas, died Saturday, April 7, 2007.

He was born October 18, 1913, in Greene County, Virginia, and was the son of the late Henry and Giulia Detamore.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Bertha Durrer Detamore; his brothers, Roger Detamore, Reginald Detamore, and Conrad Detamore; and his sisters, Adelene Dickerson, Doll Dickerson, and Marie Mowbry.

Oscar was a retired farm manager, orchardist, and cattleman. He was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Ruckersville, Virginia. He was a veteran of World War II, serving his country in the European conflict. He was a long-time member of the Albemarle Ruritan Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Katherine B. Detamore; his son, Oscar T. Detamore Jr.; his daughter-in -law, Sandra Detamore; and his grandson, Oscar Thomas Detamore III.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at the Spring Hill Baptist Church cemetery, with the Reverend Dan Carlton officiating.

The family will receive friends and family from 7 until 8 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2007, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Spring Hill Baptist Church, 2620 Fray's Mill Road, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
