Death has visited another home and saddened the community with the calling forth of Mary Hoffman who died on March 21, 1929, death being due to cancer. Funeral services were held March 23 at the local Methodist Episcopal Church with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Mary was born February 6, 1840 in Logan County the d/o James and Margaret Barr. She married James M. Hoffman on February 22, 1855 who preceded her in death on February 5, 1905. They came to Farmer City in 1894, moving from a farm 2 1/2 miles north of Weedman. She leaves three children: Mrs. O. L. Orendorff and Mrs. Delia Cross of Farmer City; and George of Backoo, ND. One child died in infancy and a son, Clarence, died a few years ago. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pall bearers were Carl Nichols, George Shere, Stuart Kelly, Will Hammer, John Knapp and Frank Schneman.
