Services for Roy "Pete" Tongate, 89, of Brownwood will be at 4 pm today at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Turnbow and Lee Evans officiating.
Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
He died on Sunday, Dec. 17,2000, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Jan. 23, 1911, in Brookesmith.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a farmer. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War 2. He was a lifetime resident of Brown County. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Pauline Robinson on Jan. 14, 1935, in Santa Anna. She died on Oct. 1, 2000.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherrel Mathews of Bangs and Karen Pennell of Post; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
